How to get $100k in scholarships for College
- Each year thousands of students find themselves trapped in loan valley. As an alumnus of Howard University who has received nearly $200,000 in scholarships, I've learned a few tips that I'd love to share. For many, securing additional funds for college may be somewhat frustrating. How do you find scholarships that you are eligible to receive? Which scholarships do you have a better chance of winning? How can you increase your chances of receiving a scholarship?
- With so many questions surrounding the scholarship application process, where do you start? At the Scholarship Academy, we teach our students to focus on what they bring to the table. What have you done that will cause an organization to award you $100,000?
- The first step in the scholarship process is to put together a portfolio which markets you as the perfect candidate. By modeling yourself as a student of academic excellence who is willing to help others or even a young person determined to use life's obstacles as an opportunity to educate your peers, you can easily place yourself as a top scholarship applicant. Many scholarship foundations are looking for students who have made a considerable impact on the lives of those around them. Spend your summer creating opportunities to make yourself stand out. One idea is to start a local summer tutoring program for elementary students or coach a Little League team? For ideas on local volunteer opportunities, visit www.volunteermatch.org and www.idealist.org.
- The summer is also a great time to start your scholarship research. There are many different scholarships that focus on certain academic fields. Finding the scholarships that best fit you now will be very useful when it comes to navigating the scholarship maze during the school year. Remember, not all scholarship search engines are useful. Here are few of our preferred scholarship search engines:
- I know this may seem like a lot for you to do yourself, but that's why The Scholarship Academy is here to help you! We are a nonprofit organization that helps students build their scholarship portfolio. The process starts now, visit www.scholarshipacademy.org for more information about starting your scholarship process today! ---------------
