Change is coming to the GMAT Test, June 2012 - Gogetprep.com

  • The New GMAT Test

  • Starting June 2012 the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) will be making a change to the GMAT test; the council is adding a new Integrated Reasoning (IR) section to the GMAT test.

  • The GMAC argues the new IR section will give B-Schools a preview into how a prospective student will handle and analyze data in the information-rich business environment of our time, which is now a focus of many B-Schools as they try to stay current and relevant to the fast changing business landscape.

  • The overall length of the GMAT exam (three and a half hours) will not change. The new integrated reasoning section will be 30 minutes long and replace one of two essays that are part of the GMAT's analytical writing section.

  • The GMAT exam's verbal and quantitative sections will not change. As a result, when the new section is introduced in June 2012, tests will be scored on the same 200-800 scale used today. Test takers will receive a separate score for the essay as they do now and another distinct score on the new integrated reasoning section.
